Lakurawa assault: We’ll finish banditry, violent crimes in Kebbi – Police

The Kebbi State Police Command has vowed to place an finish to banditry and violent crimes throughout the state.

That is following a lethal assault by suspected members of the infamous Lakurawa group in Augie Native Authorities Space, with 16 villagers killed.

In an announcement on Monday, the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that it had deployed tactical groups to hunt the terrorists.

In accordance with the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the assault occurred on Saturday, April 6, 2025, at about 6 pm, when closely armed assailants stormed two villages.

“The attackers, who arrived in giant numbers, rustled an unspecified variety of cattle and engaged in a lethal confrontation with neighborhood members, which led to the tragic lack of sixteen lives,” the assertion learn.

Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, assured that justice can be swift and decisive.

He introduced the quick deployment of further tactical groups made up of the police, army, Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, and native vigilantes to the troubled areas.

“Our resolve to rid Kebbi State of banditry and different violent crimes stays agency. We’re deploying all out there assets to make sure that the perpetrators of this mindless act are delivered to justice,” CP Sani acknowledged.
