A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Occasion (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has raised alarm over what he described as a calculated plot to destabilise Kano State and create grounds for the Federal Authorities to declare a state of emergency.

Galadima made the revelation whereas talking on Jigsaw, a political programme aired on AIT on Tuesday. He alleged that the plan was being hatched with out the data of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“On the Kano scenario, unknown to him—and I can beat my chest that he didn’t know—Tinubu didn’t know what occurred, what was organized,” Galadima acknowledged.
“There was a grand design to arrange the Kano State authorities, together with the Emir, such that they may declare a state of emergency.”

He additional claimed {that a} high-level assembly was held at a senior authorities official’s residence in Abuja to strategise the plot.

“There was a gathering in a senior official of presidency’s home on this Abuja, and the person that was presupposed to be appointed Emir was despatched to Umrah, and as I converse to you now, he’s in Saudi Arabia,” he stated.

Galadima alleged that the plot concerned detaining the present Emir of Kano in Abuja, which might immediate army intervention and finally render the throne vacant.

“Their pondering is that when the Emir is invited as we speak, he shall be detained in Abuja. As soon as he’s detained, the army shall be placed on alert and the throne shall be declared vacant,” he added.

When pressed by the programme’s anchor to reveal the id of the person allegedly being ready for the Emirship, Galadima declined.

“No, I don’t wish to point out names. Go and discover out who’s in Saudi Arabia out of the princes in Kano. Everyone in Nigeria is aware of what is going on,” he stated.

His claims come on the heels of a latest improvement involving the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi. On Monday, the Inspector-Basic of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, withdrew an earlier invitation prolonged to the Emir to report back to the Pressure Headquarters in Abuja. The invitation had been linked to investigations surrounding alleged killings in the course of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
