British quantity 4 Harriet Dart has apologised for asking the umpire to inform her French opponent to placed on deodorant throughout a first-round loss on the Rouen Open.
Dart misplaced 6-0 6-3 to Lois Boisson, which included the 28-year-old being swept apart within the opening set in simply 28 minutes.
Throughout a changeover within the second set, Dart was heard on the printed asking the official: “Are you able to ask her to placed on deodorant? She smells actually unhealthy.”
However Dart later posted on her Instagram story: “I need to apologise for what I stated on courtroom at present, it was a heat-of-the-moment remark that I actually remorse.
“That is now how I need to carry myself, and I take full accountability. I’ve numerous respect for Lois and the way she competed at present.
“I am going to study from this and transfer ahead.”
Dart went on to fail to transform any of her six break factors because the 21-year-old Boisson claimed a complete victory to succeed in the final 16.
BBC Sport has contacted the Girls’s Tennis Affiliation (WTA) for remark.
