US Senate Minority Chief, Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, on Wednesday attacked President Donald Trump, saying he lacks “constancy to the legislation”.
Schumer vowed to dam Trump’s nominees for US Lawyer for the Southern and Japanese Districts of New York.
Trump had nominated Jay Clayton because the US Lawyer for the Southern District and Joseph Nocella Jr. because the lead prosecutor within the Japanese District.
Posting on X, Schumer wrote: “Donald Trump has no constancy to the legislation, and his intentions for the Justice Division and US Lawyer places of work have been made clear.
“I can’t return the blue slip for his nominees for US Lawyer for the Southern and Japanese Districts of New York.”
Nonetheless, the Iowa Republican senator who leads the Judiciary Committee, Charles E. Grassley, stated that he intends to respect the blue slip custom.
Talking with newsmen, Grassley stated given Schumer’s stance, meaning the 2 high-priority nominations of Trump are on monitor to die within the committee with out receiving a vote.
“The reply is sure,” Grassley stated when requested whether or not he would honor the blue slip place of senators.
“If they’re from the state the nomination comes from,” he added.
