Australia’s code-crossing star Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii is to have surgical procedure to repair a fractured jaw, placing the 21-year-old below stress to be match for the British and Irish Lions tour.

Suaalii was concussed in a collision with Waratah’s team-mate Andrew Kellaway throughout their defeat by Queensland Reds on Friday.

It was then discovered that he had a “small, undisplaced fracture” which wanted an operation.

Suaalii is more likely to be sidelined for at the least 4 weeks.

“That is unlucky for us and particularly for Joseph. We want him all the perfect in his restoration and return to full well being,” Waratahs coach Dan McKellar mentioned.

“We are going to do all we will to facilitate his restoration in session with Rugby Australia to have him in the perfect form potential for his availability for the Wallabies.”
