Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has queried the relevance of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in gaining admission into establishments of upper studying.
She questioned why the Senior College Certificates Examination, SSCE, isn’t sufficient to achieve admission into establishments of upper studying.
The film star acknowledged that she doesn’t perceive the necessity for JAMB and post-UTME when the SSCE proves that candidates have accomplished secondary faculty.
On his Instastory, she wrote , “Why is it essential to take the JAMB examination to achieve admission into universities? Isn’t the SSCE enough?
“I don’t perceive the necessity for JAMB + post-JAMB when the SSCE already reveals we’ve accomplished secondary faculty.”
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, lately sparked outrage following the mass failure of candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME.
Following the outrage, JAMB admitted that there have been errors within the outcomes of some candidates who took the examinations, and apologised to the affected candidates.
JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede mentioned the board has determined that every one candidates affected in 157 out of 882 centres will likely be contacted to retake their examinations beginning Friday, 16 Might.
A complete of 379,997 candidates throughout the 157 centres in Lagos and the South-east would retake their examinations.
